Glass Information
A short reference on the glass used in packaging and what distinguishes one bottle from another.

Container glass is soda-lime glass — silica with soda ash and limestone — chosen for formability, chemical durability, and cost. Flint is clear, amber absorbs ultraviolet and much of the visible blue range, and cobalt and green offer their own light protection.
Weight class distinguishes a stock container from a premium one: heavier glass reads as quality, lighter glass costs less to freight. Neck finish, body diameter, and height are the three dimensions that determine whether a closure and a filling line will accept the bottle.
